The PIU Journey
Established 25 years ago by two brothers, Ven Nayaka and Ven Jotika, Phaung Daw Oo evolved from a monastic school into a university. Inspired by international models like Santiniketan University, PIU has forged links globally—from Australian Education Institutions to Foguang Shan University in Taiwan—to bring quality assurance and global standards to Myanmar.
Lifting the Status of Education
As education in Myanmar faced challenges, we recognized the desperate need for reform. Good quality university students require a strong foundation. By providing extensive teacher training and partnering with international organizations, PIU was established to become an international standard institution.
